At the beginning, I got addicted to yoga because it helped me release stress from my tough Ph.D studies on material engineering. But then slowly, it became my life pattern and changed my life! I would say I wouldn’t have been able to get a Ph.D. without yoga.
I practice yoga now for a healthier body and mind. Yoga allows me to immerse myself in peace while living a busy lifestyle in big cities like Bangkok or Singapore.
The most rewarding thing about being a teacher is to see smiling, happier faces of students after classes, knowing that I’m making them feel better and healthier. Basically, I’m happy when I see my students happy.
As a teacher trainer, the most rewarding thing is to be able to spread the knowledge of yoga from my respected teachers and to guide them on the right track. Also, giving them a life-time opportunity and having them become better teachers than me is also really rewarding!
I think the biggest challenge for a yoga teacher is keeping yourself motivated to keep studying. The moment you stop practicing or learning, you’re no longer able to inspire people.
In the future, I hope everybody in the world practices yoga.
For students considering teaching or deepening their practice, I would advise them to tune inwards and find the inner knowledge within you. The outer knowledge that you find from others is not your own experience – you can hear but you will not “understand!” The deeper practice comes from inside. You are your BEST TEACHER!
